Polina Schneider
Polina Schneider was born in St. Petersburg during Perestroika and grew up navigating various languages, cultures, and religious beliefs, including Catholicism, Judaism, and Russian Orthodoxy. In 1997, she migrated to Germany, where she continued to develop her artistic perspective. This sociocultural heritage has sharpened his sense of interpersonal and intercultural communication.
When she arrived in Germany, she had to fight for her rights as a woman and as a migrant from an early age. Eager to learn more and faster, Polina studied Chinese as a foreign language and computer science, proving that (technical) languages, computer science and women do not have to be contradictory, before enrolling in the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography program in Hannover in 2018.
As a member of the Aura Visuals Collective, Female Photoclubs, and Türspion magazine, Polina is dedicated to highlighting social injustices, shaping public discourse, and ensuring that women's perspectives are acknowledged in society. As a photographer, she explores themes of identity, environmental issues, and social justice. Polina has participated in the International Environmental Photography Lab and received recognition from the Women Art Prize/X-Treme, which led to her exhibition in Berlin.
In October 2022, her documentary work about a seal centre in the Netherlands was awarded Best Series by "L.A. Photo Curator." Since then, she has exhibited her work throughout Europe and the USA. She is also a member of the collective C21, which focuses on environmental photography and inclusive storytelling and made its debut at the Zingst Festival in 2023.
Her project "I, Superhero" was published in "Geste Paris" and "Dek Unu," and it won the 2023 Debut Award at the Phodar Biennale in Sofia. Additionally, it won the our ProgresFestival award in 2024. Beginning in February 2024, Polina will have her first solo exhibition at the Berlin Reinickendorf city hall.

My favorite day is Wednesday.
