Mexico City, Day 11
Hello everybody!
On day 11, April 6th, we started out by going to the relatively close Mercado la Merced.
This is the largest traditional food market in the city. And it also has parts where they sell other things than food. It's huge, we didn't have stamina to explore even half of it.
Sam suddenly realized that it was Saturday, and on Saturdays only, there was a "punk" market in Mexico City. He was keen to go! It's called El Chopo and is located in the Guerrero district. Apart from punk, heavy metal, rock, and alternative lifestyles in general were for sale here—or all the knickknacks associated with them, at least. There was also a scene with live bands playing.
In the afternoon we left for the Frida Kahlo museum in Coyoacan. What the visitors get, is a look inside the house where she lived for 20 years, a glimpse into her life with her artist husband Diego Rivera. There is a lot of art she collected, some photos of her, but just a few of her paintings. When we visited, there was also a new exhibition of her clothes and the disability aids she needed beneath those clothes to function. She designed both clothes and aids herself.
Best regards,
Niklas

When I'm on my travels, i sometimes blog here
I've always liked to travel and have taken a lot of photos when I do. Since 2010, I've travelled extensively and combined my longing to discover the world with a growing passion for street photography.
My old photo blog was written between 2013 and 18. Beware, it's in Swedish and has 776 episodes.
